Do you need help filing your taxes? Our Hamilton/South Caddo Branch will have free tax assistance available for you on Saturday, February 3 from 9 a.m. to noon and on Monday evenings from February 5 to April 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The United Way and H&R Block will host a free self-assisted VITA site at the library.
At Hamilton/South Caddo, you will be able to file your taxes for free through MyFreeTaxes.com if you make $66,000 per year or less. Using this software, you can file both your federal and state taxes.
A tax coach will be on hand to help you use the free software, and you can also get free assistance from the MyFreeTaxes website and phone number. The library also has computers available for you to use to file your taxes. Although these services are free, you will have to pay to print a copy of your return at the library.
To file your taxes, you will need to bring the following information with you to the library: email address, copy of 2017 tax return with adjusted gross income, all W-2 and 1099 forms, photo ID for self and spouse (depending on how you are filing), copy of check for direct deposit, social security cards for all people on your return, birth dates for everyone on your return, 1095-A (if you purchased health insurance through the marketplace), amount paid for daycare provider and their tax ID number, W-2G, 1099G, 1099-INT, 1099D, 1099R, 1099SSA, 1099-MISC, 1098T, or any other income received, and information for all deductions/credits.
