SML Library Updates

SML Delayed Opening Today - Libraries to Open at 10 AM

Due to wintry weather and hazardous road conditions, all Shreve Memorial Library branches will delay opening today, February 1, until 10:00 a.m. All Shreve Memorial Library branches will open at that time and resume normal business hours.

The West Shreveport Branch is closed for cleaning and will remain closed Thursday, December 22 due to staff shortage.

Shreve Memorial Library's Main Branch is temporarily closed due to a plumbing issue. The branch will reopen at 9AM on Wednesday, March 24 at 9AM.

All Shreve Memorial Library branches, with the exception of the West Shreveport Branch, will be open for normal hours on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Several Shreve Memorial Library branches will reopen to the public effective Wednesday, February 24. Only those branches with adequate water, power, and staff will reopen to the public. The remaining branches will reopen as water is restored to the buildings.

The following library branches will be open to the public open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The following branches are also reopen to the public effective for regular hours. Visit www.shreve-lib.org/427/All-Locations-Hours for a complete list of operating hours.

Library branches will remain open depending on continued water pressure. As additional library branches reopen, updates will be posted on the Shreve Memorial Library website and the library’s social media pages.

Effective Tuesday, February 23, the following library branches will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

All Shreve Memorial Library branches will remain closed on Monday, February 22 due to lack of water.

“Our facilities team toured most of our full-time branches this morning and found that there is either no water or very little water in the buildings,” stated John Tuggle, Shreve Memorial Library Executive Director, adding, “we are going to decide on a day-by-day basis. As water is restored to a building, we will reopen it.”

As library branches reopen, updates will be posted on the Shreve Memorial Library website (www.shreve-lib.org) and the library’s social media pages.

While the library branches are closed, patrons can still access Shreve Memorial Library’s e-branch and online resources, such as Overdrive, Hoopla, and Flipster.

As winter weather and extreme temperatures continue to affect the area, all Shreve Memorial Library branches will remain closed for the remainder of the week. Library branches may open as early as Monday, February 22, if weather permits and road conditions improve.

While the library branches are closed, patrons can still access Shreve Memorial Library’s e-branch and online resources, such as Overdrive, Hoopla, and Flipster. Shreve Memorial Library encourages all to take necessary precautions to remain safe during the impending winter weather event.

As winter weather and extreme temperatures continue to affect the area, all Shreve Memorial Library branches will remain closed through Thursday, February 18. Library branches may open as early as Friday, February 19, if weather permits and road conditions improve.

 “We continue monitoring weather conditions,” said John Tuggle, Shreve Memorial Library Executive Director. “We want everyone to stay as safe and warm as possible during these winter storms.”

 While the library branches are closed, patrons can still access Shreve Memorial Library’s e-branch and online resources, such as Overdrive, Hoopla, and Flipster. Shreve Memorial Library encourages all to take necessary precautions to remain safe during the impending winter weather event.

All Shreve Memorial Library branches will be closed on Monday, February 15, due to anticipated inclement weather. Library branches will reopen on Tuesday, February 16 as weather allows.

The Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch, located at 8303 Line Avenue, will be closed through Sunday, January 31, with plans to reopen on Monday, February 1. During the closure, the branch will be cleaned and disinfected according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Shreve Memorial Library's David Raines Branch and Hamilton/South Caddo Branch are closed after employees tested positive for COVID-19. Both branches will be closed through Sunday, December 27, with plans to reopen on Monday, December 28.

The Broadmoor Branch will be closed through Sunday, December 27, with plans to reopen on Monday, December 28. The Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, will be closed through Sunday, December 20, with plans to reopen on Monday, December 21. During the closure, the branch will be cleaned and disinfected according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Shreve Memorial Library's Support Services Center is closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The Support Services Center, which houses the library’s administrative offices, will be through Monday, November 23 with plans to reopen Tuesday, November 24.

During the closure, the branch will be cleaned and disinfected according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Shreve Memorial Library Atkins Branch is closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The Atkins Branch, located at 3704 Greenwood Road, will be closed through Monday, August 31, with plans to reopen on Tuesday, September 1.

The Wallette and West Shreveport Branches of Shreve Memorial Library are closed after a contract worker tested positive for COVID-19. Both branches will be closed through Sunday, August 30, with plans to reopen on Monday, August 31. The Wallette Branch is located at 363 Hearne Avenue, and the West Shreveport Branch is located at 4380 Pines Road, both in Shreveport.

Shreve Memorial Library’s Hamilton/South Caddo Branch is closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, will be closed through August 10, with plans to reopen on Tuesday, August 11.

Shreve Memorial Library’s North Shreveport Branch will remain closed until Monday, August 10, after a second employee tested positive for COVID-19. The North Shreveport Branch, located at 4844 North Market Street, was closed Wednesday, July 29 with plans to reopen the branch on Wednesday, August 5.

Shreve Memorial Library’s Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch is closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch, located at 8303 Line Avenue, will be closed through August 6, with plans to reopen on Friday, August 7.

The branch will be closed through July 9, with plans to reopen on Friday, July 10. The branch may open sooner if COVID-19 test results come back negative for the employee in question.

The Gilliam Branch of Shreve Memorial Library, located at 12797 Main Street in Gilliam, is closed after an employee presented symptoms similar to those of COVID-19. The branch will be closed through July 8, with plans to reopen on Thursday, July 9. The branch may open sooner if COVID-19 test results come back negative for the employee in question.

The Broadmoor Branch of Shreve Memorial Library is closed after an employee presented symptoms similar to those of COVID-19. The branch, located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive, will be closed through July 8, with plans to reopen on Thursday, July 9. The branch may open sooner if COVID-19 test results come back negative for the employee in question.

The Wallette Branch of Shreve Memorial Library is closed after an employee presented symptoms similar to those of COVID-19. The branch, located at 363 Hearne Avenue, will be closed through July 7, with plans to reopen on Wednesday, July 8. The branch may open sooner if COVID-19 test results come back negative for the employee in question.

The Hollywood/ Union Avenue Branch of Shreve Memorial Library is closed after an employee reported exposure to a COVID-positive person. During the closure, the branch will be cleaned and disinfected according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

The branch, located at 8303 Line Avenue, will be closed through June 21, with plans to reopen on Monday, June 22. During the closure, the branch will be cleaned and disinfected according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Update: 6/9/20

Shreve Memorial Library will open the doors to seven of its branches tomorrow, June 10. The Broadmoor, Cedar Grove-Line Avenue, Hamilton/South Caddo, North Caddo, North Shreveport, Wallette, and West Shreveport branches will open to the public Wednesday at 10:15 a.m.

Update 6/5/20:

The reopening of seven Shreve Memorial Library branches has been delayed. After almost three months of closures, the library had planned to reopen branches beginning Monday, June 8. However, lack of needed safety materials and equipment has delayed the openings with a reopen date still to be determined.

The David Raines Branch of Shreve Memorial Library is closed after an employee presented symptoms similar to those of COVID-19. The branch, located at 2855 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, will be closed through at June 10, with plans to reopen on Thursday, June 11. During the closure, the branch will be cleaned and disinfected according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Update 6/2/20:

After almost three months of closures, Shreve Memorial Library is reopening library branches to the public. Following Governor John Bel Edwards’ announcement of Phase Two Reopening, Shreve Memorial Library will reopen seven of its library branches beginning Monday, June 8, 2020, with plans to reopen all branches by the end of June 2020.

The branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, will be closed through at least June 2, 2020. During the closure, the branch will be cleaned and disinfected according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

Update 5/22/20: 

Shreve Memorial Library is expanding service for patrons following the Memorial Day holiday. Effective Tuesday, May 26, patrons will be able to return checked out library materials to 19 branch book drops and the mobile library. In addition, curbside pickup service will expand to 12 additional Shreve Memorial Library branches on Monday, June 1.

Update 5/7/20:

Patrons of Shreve Memorial Library will soon be able to return, reserve and checkout items from select Shreve Memorial Library branches. All library branches have been closed since March 16 due to the coronavirus pandemic and governmental stay-at-home orders. Beginning Monday, May 11, patrons may place holds online to reserve items for pickup and begin returning items currently checked out to library drop boxes at the Broadmoor, Cedar Grove/Line Avenue, Hamilton/South Caddo, North Caddo, North Shreveport, Wallette and West Shreveport branches.  Curbside pickup service will begin on Monday, May 18.
