Shreve Memorial Library Hamilton/South Caddo Branch is pleased to partner with Mariam Harley of KEMET to present STEM Saturdays for children. STEM Saturdays will offer children ages 5-17 fun hands-on activities relating to science, technology, engineering and math. STEM Saturdays are held on the second Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. at the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. The program is free and open to the public. Registration is required to attend.
KEMET is an interactive out-of-school time STEM program that provides enrichment opportunities for school age students. Club Kemet inspires kids to think like an engineer by learning problem solving skills, encouraging teamwork, adaptability and fostering ingenuity and creativity.
Children participating in the STEM Saturdays program will be instructed by Mariam Harley to do various in-person and online activities such as building a solar oven, taking a mission to Mars and building a solar robot. Additionally, children will make a dance pad, create a video game, build a water filtration system and more. Each month will bring new activities for children to explore ways to learn in an interactive setting, making science and math applicable to their world.
STEM Saturdays programs occur each month through May 2024. Parents can register their children by calling the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch at 318-687-6824 or online via the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch program calendar on the Shreve Memorial Library website.
