We will observe National Hispanic Heritage Month with a fun-filled family-oriented celebration on Saturday, September 22 at the Broadmoor Branch, located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive. The festivities will take place from 2 p. m. to 4 p.m. All ages are encouraged to attend.
The public is invited to come and enjoy live music, dancing, games, craft activities, and tons of fun for the whole family. Food trucks will be on site, and authentic Hispanic cuisine will be served. The program is free and open to the public, however, there will be a charge for items purchased from the food trucks.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year as a recognition of the contributions that Hispanic Americans have made in the United States. The celebration started in 1986 as a week-long event and is now celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15, as seven Latin American countries celebrate their Independence Days during this time.
