Lawyers will visit our library branches to offer free consultations during the Lawyers in Libraries event from October 22 through October 27. Lawyers in Libraries is an annual program organized by the Louisiana Bar Association in which lawyers visit public libraries and offer free limited legal services.
We have Ask-A-Lawyer events scheduled at our Main Branch, Wallette Branch, and West Shreveport Branch during this time.
Our Main Branch will host an Ask-A-Lawyer session on Thursday, October 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. We will have three attorneys present who will provide free 15-minute individual sessions, allowing patrons to ask questions about civil legal issues in a one-on-one setting, and receive brief legal advice and a referral for additional help. The attorneys who will be there are Sherron Phae Williams, Assistant City Attorney/City of Shreveport, Brittany B. Arvie, Esq. and Monique I. Davis, Esq.
Wallette Branch will host a classroom style program with Attorney Felicia Hamilton on Tuesday, October 23 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Her presentation is titled "Knowing Your Legal rights" and will cover civil topics such as wills, successions, divorce, and real estate. Ebonee Norris, from the Norris Law Group, LLC, will visit our West Shreveport Branch on Friday, October 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to offer free individual consultations.
All of these programs are free and open to the public.
