We are looking forward to having local author Michelle P. Chopin for book talks and signings this January! Chopin will present her book, From the Dust of the Earth – Who, Me? A Study for Reflection, at the Main Branch on January 5 and at the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch on January 26.
Michelle Chopin is a local author and the Supervisor of Operations and Development with Child Nutrition Programs for the Caddo Parish School Board. She serves as Chair of the Northwest LA Area Supervisors and Directors for School Food Services. Early in her career she taught Home Economics at Southwood High School. Her book, From the Dust of the Earth-Who, Me? A Study for Reflection, is a collection of wisdom from the Bible, sermons, proverbs, quotes, and Chopin’s life experiences.
“One of my goals for this manuscript is to create or develop an antecedent for change. Learning is realized by an evident change in behavior, concurrently with a change in thinking - which I hope for, according to your need,” Chopin said. “To those searching for something, I hope these readings promote contemplation and provide encouragement and guidance. These words come through much thought, reflection and thanksgiving, yet through little deliberation.”
During the book talks, Chopin will read passages from her book and speak about situations in her life that made her wiser. Chopin will visit the Main Branch on Saturday, January 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The program will take place in the Eaves Room of the branch located at 424 Texas Street in downtown Shreveport.
Chopin will also visit the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch on Saturday, January 26 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Hamilton/South Caddo Branch is located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
Both programs are free and open to the public. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
