It's that time of the year — tax season! We will have IRS volunteers on hand at our Hamilton/South Caddo Branch every Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. starting Monday, February 4 until Monday, April 8. These volunteers will be able to assist you with questions while you file your taxes online. They are not able to file your taxes for you, and they are not able to assist with paper filing.
Please make sure to bring all your tax information needed to file, including your email address, tax documents (W2, 1095s, 1099s, and other income/deductions), and last year's tax return for verification.
This program is a free service of the United Way of Northwest Louisiana for those who make under $66,000 per year. Please note that the IRS volunteers will only answer your questions while you file and cannot file your taxes for you. You will need basic computer skills to file your taxes, so if you need extra help bring someone with you. Also, you will have to pay for any printing that is required. Volunteers will stop new returns at 6:45 p.m.
RSVP to the Facebook event and let others know about this service.
The IRS volunteers will also be available during our Super Saturday event on Saturday, February 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will be available to answer questions as you file your taxes online on this Saturday morning.
All of these programs will take place in the Tech Center at our Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport. Call the branch at 318-687-6824 if you have questions.
If you need extra assistance filing your taxes, the United Way also has VITA sites throughout Northwest Louisiana. These sites offer free federal and state tax preparation for individuals making $55,000 or less. Find a list of VITA sites here.
