Our Broadmoor Branch is introducing a new program for homeschool students in grades 1st through 5th. Homeschool STEM School will introduce students to the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Homeschool STEM School begins Wednesday, February 13, and will be held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Homeschool students are invited to explore innovative ways to engage with the world of STEM. Homeschool STEM School will feature STEM stories, activities, experiments and plenty of interactive fun. On February 13, attending students will learn about the water cycle and the importance of having clean water. Students will be able to participate in an interactive game that allows them to travel through the water cycle. On February 27, students will discover Newton’s three laws of motion, testing their knowledge with an egg drop challenge.
Homeschool STEM School will be held at the Broadmoor Branch, located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive. The program is open to all homeschool students in grades 1st through 5th. There is no cost to attend, and registration is not required. Large groups are asked to contact the Broadmoor Youth Services Department at (318) 219-1782 to reserve spots.
Additional programs for homeschool students are also held at the North Shreveport Branch, located at 4844 Market Street. Home School Group programs are held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Activities include story times and craft programs.
