SML Art Club Spotlights Seurat and Earle in April and May

SML Art Club

Have you attended an SML Art Club program? We are introducing patrons to the works of famous artists and providing you a chance to express your creativity. The SML Art Club meets at different branches each month, and no registration or previous artistic experience is required to attend.

This month, teens and adults will learn about French Neo-Impressionist painter, Georges Seurat (1859 – 1891). Seurat is best known for his use of pointillism, a painting technique that uses small distinct dots of color to form an image. Teens and adults will use his technique of pointillism to create their own mini masterpieces.

In May, the SML Art Club will spotlight the work of Eyvind Earle (1916 – 2000). Earle is an American-born painter whose work is characterized by simplicity, directness and surety of handling. His work with Walt Disney Studios can be seen in animated classics such Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, and Sleeping Beauty. Teens and adults will study Earle’s stylings to create their own fantasy paintings.
