Access World Book Online with your Shreve Memorial Library card

World Book Online

Discover your world and research any number of topics by visiting World Book Online, the renowned encyclopedia available as an online resource with your library card! World Book Online offers a place for you to explore and dig into any topic and find fact-checked, verified information.

World Book Online is a resource for learners of all ages, and provides primary source material, educator resources, and games, science projects and activities. Illustrations and videos are included in the online version and the articles are all written to be clear and concise.

World Book Online also includes integration with Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive, as well as a citation formatting tool to make it easy for you to cite your resources.

With your Shreve Memorial Library card, you’ll have access to the following World Book sites:

  • World Book Kids – This site was developed especially for younger users and includes simple navigation, easy-to-read articles and illustrations, videos, and interactive maps.
  • World Book Student -  This site is for elementary and middle school users and features tools to integrate online knowledge into school assignments.
  • World Book Advanced – This site features the entire World Book Encyclopedia, along with an atlas, a dictionary, world newspapers, and local and country research guides.
  • World Book Timelines – Easily explore pre-generated timelines across eight topics throughout history on this resource, and create your own timeline from scratch adding in events, descriptions, and other media.
  • World Book Discover – This resource has reference materials available for those reading below grade level because of language or learning difficulties, such as reluctant readers, ESL, ELL, and adult literacy students. It includes text to speech capabilities, translation tools, and a life skills section that covers many topics.
  • Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos – This interactive site features World Books Kids content in Spanish for elementary students through older students and adults.
  • L’Encyclopédie Découverte – This interactive site offers World Book Kids content in French, in an area for both younger native French speakers and one for older users and adults learning French.
