To earn prizes this year, you will be required to finish the following number of books:

  • Children (Read-to-me and readers) – 5 books
  • Teens (11-17) – 3 books
  • Adults (18 and up ) – 2 books

Patrons who register and complete the goal for their age level will receive a Summer Reading Program incentive sheet filled with offers for free and discounted admissions to local businesses and other treats. We will have more details when our Summer Reading Program starts on Monday, June 3. The Summer Reading Program will go from June 1 until July 31. The program helps to encourage local children and adults to read over the summer and learn something new.

Summer Reading also means a ton of fun programs and activities at the library for children, teens, and adults. This summer we will have painting programs with mixed media art and watercolor, yoga, robotics, digital space games, coding, rocket building and more. Performers this summer include the Shreveport Hoop Group, Dat Does the Trick, Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park, Michelle’s Magical Poodles, Sciencetellers, Professor Universe, and Hampstead Stage Company.
