Do you love photography and taking pictures? Then join the new Photography Club at West Shreveport Branch! Come share your pictures and experiences, learn techniques, and meet fellow photographers during the first meeting on Monday, June 3 at 5 p.m.
Local photographer and Shreve Memorial Library staff member, Samantha Barbour, will lead the Photography Club. Barbour, a former assistant professor who has taught graphic design and photography to college and continuing education students, will demonstrate different photography techniques and methods.
She will discuss composition and how to set up a photograph, learning your camera, and how to change camera settings. Classes will progress to more advanced techniques such as controlling shutter speed, manual photography, and variable film speeds.
Photography Club participants are also encouraged to share their photos and experiences.
“It is my hope to build the club to the point people come up with photography assignments for the month and then bring them in and display them for critique,” said Barbour, whose work is currently on display at the West Shreveport Branch and in New York art galleries.
Registration is not required to participate in the Photography Club, and the club is open to anyone age 15 and older. The Photography Club will meet each Monday in June from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the West Shreveport Branch. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome to join.
