SML celebrates Winnie the Pooh Day this January!

Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day

We are honoring everyone’s favorite honey-loving bear during Winnie the Pooh Day at our libraries this January! Join us for Winnie the Pooh Day programs to celebrate the birthday of A.A. Milne, the British author and creator of Winnie the Pooh.

Winnie the Pooh Day celebrations will include storytimes, crafts, movies, and visits from Winnie the Pooh and his friends, along with photo opportunities. Children and families are encouraged to participate. Winnie the Pooh Day is on Saturday, January 18 but our branches will have programs from January 9 through January 22. Winnie the Pooh Day Events Schedule

  • Atkins Branch: Winnie the Pooh Craft Time on Friday, January 17 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. It’s craft time! Help us celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day with various Winnie the Pooh crafts. Ages 5 – 10.
  • Blanchard Branch: Winnie the Pooh Drop-In Program on January 14 – 16, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  This is a drop in program with a story, “Sweet Dreams Roo” by Hapka or “Winnie” by Walker and a Honey Pot craft. We will also have a take home Winnie the Pooh activity booklet.
  • Broadmoor Branch: Preschool Storytime Winnie the Pooh Day Celebration on Wednesday, January 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join as we celebrate that tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff — Winnie the Pooh! We will have stories, watch Winnie the Pooh and make Winnie the Pooh inspired crafts.
  • Cedar Grove/Line Ave. Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day Celebration on Friday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children ages 2 to 5 will hear excerpts from Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne, watch portions of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh movie, sing songs, and make crafts featuring their favorite characters from the Hundred Acre Wood.
  • David Raines Branch: Winnie the Pooh Storytime on Friday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children are invited to join us at David Raines as we journey through the Hundred Acre Woods with the wonderful stories of Christopher Robin and Pooh Bear! For ages 3 – 6.
  • Hamilton/South Caddo Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day on Friday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Do you love Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore? Ages 3 – 5 are invited to bounce on over to Hamilton/South Caddo Branch. We’ll take a trip to The Hundred Acre Wood for some stories, games and a craft that is sure to be splendiferous!
  • Higginbotham-Bryson Branch: Winnie the Pooh Movie on Friday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Hollywood/Union Ave. Branch: Winnie the Pooh Movie Day on Friday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come and join us to view a movie about Winnie the Pooh! Ages 2 – 4.
  • Hosston Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day Storytime & Craft on Friday, January 17 from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Celebrate Winnie the Pooh with a storytime and craft!
  • Main Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day Magic Carpet Storytime on Friday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day with Winnie the Pooh stories, crafts, and videos at the Main Branch!
  • Means Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day on Wednesday, January 22 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come enjoy crafts and stories about Winnie the Pooh!
  • Mooretown Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day on Friday, January 17 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day with stories, crafts, a movie, and even a video-clip where you will learn about the real Winnie the Pooh!
  • Mooringsport Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day Movie on Friday, January 17 at 3:30 p.m. For Winnie the Pooh Day, we will be showing Winnie the Pooh movies and have a coloring activity available for children.
  • North Caddo Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day on Friday, January 17 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. We will be celebrating Winnie the Pooh Day with crafts, coloring sheets, and a scavenger hunt through the library.
  • North Shreveport Branch: Winnie the Pooh Storytime on Tuesday, January 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Babies and toddlers will celebrate the upcoming Winnie The Pooh Day with stories, songs, rhymes and interactive counting games.
  • Rodessa Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day Movie & Birthday Party on Thursday, January 9 at 2 p.m. Join us for a movie and birthday party for Winnie the Pooh at Rodessa!
  • Wallette Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day on Friday, January 17 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children will learn about Winnie the Pooh through stories, a video clip, craft and a movie.
  • West Shreveport Branch: Winnie the Pooh Day on Saturday, January 18 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children will watch a Winnie the Pooh movie and create a honey pot craft!

Author A.A. Milne brought the adorable bear to life in his stories which also featured his son, Christopher Robin. Milne based Winnie on a black bear that lived at the London Zoo.
