SML Art Club Highlights American Landscape Artist Erin Hanson

Shreve Memorial Library’s monthly SML Art Club is introducing teens and adults to the works of American landscape artist, Erin Hanson, during the month of February. SML Art Club meetings will take place at several Shreve Memorial Library branches with separate workshops for teens and adults. Registration is not required, and no prior artistic experience is needed to attend.

Erin Hanson is a San Diego-based artist, who is the originator of the painting style called “Open Impressionism.” Hanson’s American landscape paintings are on display internationally and at solo and group exhibitions in museums worldwide.

Teens and adults will learn about the American landscape artist and create art in her open impressionist style. The workshops are open to patrons, ages 10 years and older.  The workshops for teens will be at the following Shreve Memorial Library branches on the dates and times listed below.

  • Tuesday, February 11 at 4:00 p.m. at David Raines Branch, 2855 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive (Facebook Event)
  • Wednesday, February 12 at 4:00 p.m. at Means Branch, 7016 E. Magnolia Lane, Ida (Facebook Event)

Workshops for adults are as followed:

  • Friday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. at West Shreveport Branch, 4380 Pines Road (Facebook Event)
  • Thursday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop (Facebook Event)
  • Friday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. at  North Shreveport Branch, 4844 North Market Street (Facebook Event)
  • Tuesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch, 2105 Hollywood Avenue (Facebook Event)

SML Art Club meetings are held monthly at various Shreve Memorial Library branches. Classes introduce participants to a variety of artists including Andy Warhol, Vincent Van Gogh, Dale Chihuly, Pablo Picasso, and more. Participants are encouraged to complete original works inspired by the style of the artist of the month.
