Yes You Can - Learn a New Language

Did you always want to learn a new language? Get started with language lessons for free with Pronunciator! Pronunciator is a free online resource available through the State Library Database page that has lessons in 98 languages. We also have e-books, audiobooks, books, CDs, DVDs, and more to help you learn the language of your choice.

Pronunciator is a fun and free way to learn one of 98 languages using customized courses online. To access Pronunciator, visit the State Library Database page here:

If you are not at the library, the State Library Database page will prompt you for your library card number to access the page. Once you are on the database page, Pronunciator is located on the right-hand side under “Statewide Databases.” Using Pronunciator, you can create your own learning path with any number of languages, including Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, and many more.

For the more popular languages, there are Travel Prep courses available, online speaking classes, as well as beginner and advanced level courses. There is also an online U.S. Citizenship Preparation course for English speakers and Spanish speakers. (Need help using Pronunciator? We also have a free online course to teach you to use the resource: )

Pronunciator is available as an app for smartphones and tablets (iOS devices, Android devices, and Kindle Fire tablets), but you will need to create an account to log in. On the Pronunciator site, you will need to register on the first page where it says “Register.” There you will set up your account with an email address and password. That is what you will use to sign in on the app.

You can download the Pronunciator app in the appropriate app store for your device.
