You can use your library card from anywhere with our digital services. If you love e-books, we have many options available for you to borrow them from Shreve Memorial Library. Services such as Overdrive, Hoopla, and Tumblebooks offer you a variety of e-books available on your phone, tablet, or other digital device.
Read on to learn more about how you can borrow e-books from Shreve Memorial Library.
The most popular way to borrow e-books with your library card is through Overdrive. Overdrive has two apps available for smartphones and tablets — Libby or Overdrive. You can try out either of them, but Libby is the newest app available.
Overdrive also offers e-books in a variety of formats for e-readers such as Kindles and Nooks. They have a great help page available that will give you the basic instructions no matter what device you have: https://help.overdrive.com/#devices
You will sign into Overdrive with your library card number and your PIN. (Don’t know your PIN? Follow the instructions here to get it: https://www.shreve-lib.org/132/Get-my-PIN)
You can borrow five e-books at a time through Overdrive, and you keep items for two weeks at a time. If all the copies of a title are checked out, you will have to place a hold on the item. When the title is available, you will receive an email that you can borrow the title. You can have up to 10 holds at a time.

Hoopla is another great digital service we offer with your Shreve Memorial Library card. It is available as an app for smartphones and tablets, or you can access materials on a desktop or laptop computer. Hoopla has a variety of formats available, but you can check out their large selection of e-books here: https://www.hoopladigital.com/browse/ebook/popular?page=1
To access Hoopla, you will need to set up an account with an email address and password. You will then choose your library and enter your library card number and PIN.
In Hoopla, you can borrow 10 items a month, with your number of borrows resetting at the beginning of every month. You borrow e-books from Hoopla for 21 days. You do not have to put holds on materials from Hoopla.
Hoopla also recently started a Book Club Hub that features book club-ready selections along with discussion guides, author interviews, and reading suggestions. You can check that out here: https://theclub.hoopladigital.com/
