Make it a movie night tonight with your library card! While we always have DVDs available for you to borrow, did you know we also have a number of options for you to stream movies online? Check out Hoopla and Overdrive for a collection of movies and TV shows that you can borrow without leaving your house.
Hoopla is an app available for smartphones and tablets, but you can also access it using your laptop. Hoopla has all sorts of movies available, and you can browse the collection available here : https://www.hoopladigital.com/browse/movie/popular?page=1
Recent popular movies on Hoopla have included RBG (a documentary perfect for Women’s History Month on U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg), the Reese Witherspoon comedies Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde 2, or I Kill Giants (based on the popular graphic novel). The selection constantly changes on Hoopla Digital, which is great because you can check out 10 items there a month.
Also, Hoopla has a huge selection of TV shows available, but be careful with binge-watching because each episode you borrow will count against your monthly 10 borrows. Check out the selection of TV shows here: https://www.hoopladigital.com/browse/television/popular?page=1
When you borrow movies and TV shows in Hoopla, you will have them for three days and you can download them for offline viewing on smartphones or tablets. The items will automatically return after three days and there are no late fees.
Hoopla is also available as an app for Apple TVs, Amazon Fire TVs, and Roku devices. Search in the app store on your respective smart TV device and you can download the app to instantly stream movies and TV shows. How cool is that? If you need help, you can check out the Hoopla FAQ page here: https://www.hoopladigital.com/help
Setting up a Hoopla account is easy. All you will need is your library card and PIN to get started. Click on “Get Started Today” on https://www.hoopladigital.com/ and enter in the needed information.
You may know Overdrive as the spot to borrow e-books and audiobooks, but we also have movies and TV shows available for you in there. You can watch these movies on a computer or using the Overdrive app on a smartphone or tablet. To sign into Overdrive, you will need to choose Shreve Memorial Library as your library and then enter your library card number and PIN.

In Overdrive, you can borrow five items at a time. Any movie or TV show will return after two weeks, but once you watch the item it will expire in 48 hours.
The movies and TV shows will automatically return on the due date and there are no late fees. Overdrive has a great help page available if you encounter any problems in accessing this service: https://help.overdrive.com/
