Shreve Memorial Library’s Broadmoor Branch is teaming up with LifeShare Blood Center to host a blood drive on Wednesday, December 2. According to the LifeShare Blood Center website, every two seconds someone somewhere needs blood and one in seven hospital patients will need blood. Shreve Memorial Library patrons can help save a life by donating blood with LifeShare’s mobile unit between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2 at the Broadmoor Branch, located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive.
“We are really excited about this opportunity to benefit our community,” stated Ariel Stewart, Shreve Memorial Library Broadmoor Branch Manager.
Anyone can volunteer to donate blood at the blood drive. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. Volunteers who are 16-years-old must have a signed permission form from a parent or guardian before giving blood. Those wishing to donate blood, should bring identification, a list of any medications they are currently taking, and be sure to eat a good meal and increase fluid consumption prior to donating.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, donors are encouraged to pre-register and reserve a time slot for giving blood. Interested persons can sign up at https://donor.lifeshare.org/donor/shedules/drive_schedule/217854.
