Shreve Memorial Library is inviting the public to join them for a fun and interactive Q&A session entitled “Making Movies: The Craft, The Secrets, The Fun,” with filmmakers Tom Capps, Phil Russell and Janelle Tedesco. The three will pull back the curtain to reveal some tricks and secrets behind how movies are made in this virtual presentation. “Making Movies” will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m.
Tom Capps and Phil Russell are the founders of Thursday Shoots, a New York based independent filmmaking production company. They have honed their craft in many different formats, such as short and feature length films, web series, music videos, broadcast news, reality television and commercials. They will be joined by Janelle Tedeso, who is new to the filmmaking team and brings 25 years of professional acting experience.
During the presentation, Capps, Russell and Tedesco will go through the movie making process from creating a budget, hiring cast and crew, selecting locations, deciding on hair, makeup and props, to directing, editing and producing. The three filmmakers will use props and visual aids to show participants real tricks and techniques commonly used during the movie making process, emphasizing that no matter the budget there is always an illusion to create and a way to accomplish it.
“Making Movies” is suitable for teens and adults. Attendance is free and open to anyone interested in filmmaking. The interactive presentation will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m., and registration is required to attend. To register, please visit https://bit.ly/SMLmoviechat.
