In celebration of Veterans Day, Shreve Memorial Library North Shreveport Branch will display a Freedom Tree featuring photographs of men and women from all branches of the military. Now through October 30, the library is seeking photo submissions from the public to include on the Freedom Tree.
The Freedom Tree honors all branches of the military and prisoners of war. Adorned in red, white and blue decorations along with patches and photos of military personnel, it serves as a reminder of the sacrifice and service of all veterans. The Freedom Tree will be on display at the North Shreveport Branch, located at 4844 North Market Street, beginning Monday, November 1, and will be lit at a special Veterans Day program on Thursday, November 11 at 2:00 p.m.
The North Shreveport Branch is collecting photographs of local veterans and military personnel to be included on the Freedom Tree. The photos will be made into ornaments to hang on the tree. Photographs to be included on the Freedom Tree may be submitted by emailing North Shreveport Branch Manager Ranee Terry at firstname.lastname@example.org or by tagging @shrevememorial on Facebook and Instagram. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, October 30.
