Shreve Memorial Library to host Lawyers in Libraries Week October 25 – 30

Get free legal advice at Shreve Memorial Library during “Lawyers in Libraries Week.” Shreve Memorial Library has partnered with the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Library Association to present the 8th Annual “Lawyers in Libraries,” a statewide program designed to better educate the public about legal issues.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their legal inquiries during in-person sessions and virtual sessions. In-person sessions dealing with Wills and Successions and Ask-a-Lawyer Consultations will be held at several library branches. Local attorneys will visit Shreve Memorial Library’s David Raines, West Shreveport, Wallette, and Cedar Grove – Line Avenue Branches to answer your legal questions and share free legal information.

The two-hour, in-person workshops will take place in the meeting rooms at the library branches. Workshops on Wills and Successions will take place on Monday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the David Raines Branch (2855 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive), on Tuesday, October 26 at 5:00 p.m. at the West Shreveport Branch (4380 Pines Road), and on Wednesday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. at the Wallette Branch (363 Hearne Avenue). Patrons can have their legal questions answered in one-on-one settings at Ask-a-Lawyer Consultations on Monday, October 15 at 5:00 p.m. at the Wallette Branch and on Saturday, October 30 at 9:00 a.m. at the Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch (8303 Line Avenue).

Registration, social distancing and face masks are required for all library programs. Those interested can register in person at the library branch or via telephone by calling the branch.

In addition to the in-person programs at the library, the Louisiana Bar Association will host virtual sessions via social media.
