Young People in Recovery along with Shreve Memorial Library Cedar Grove/ Line Ave. Branch will host Young People in Recovery Meetings every other Thursday from 5:00 PM -6:00 PM. YPR-Shreveport chapter engages young people in seeking recovery and their allies in communities across the country to take a stand for recovery. The Shreveport Chapter supports young people in seeking recovery by empowering them to obtain stable employment, secure suitable housing, and continue and complete their educations. The Shreveport Chapter also advocates on the local and state levels for better accessibility of these services and other effective recovery resources. This program is free and open to the public.     Join us as local Chef Owen Osborne visits for a cooking program! During the event, he will be showing us how to make a sorbet. Owen is the 2016 winner of Michelle Obama's Healthy Lunchtime Challenge and Kids State Dinner. He is also a 2018 finalist of the Healthiest Kid Chef Cook-Off and is preparing for the 2019 finals. He is also scheduled to appear on "Chopped Junior." When he is not cooking, Owen is an award-winning competitive swimmer with the City of Shreveport swim team, and recently made the state finals. He is also an honors student, Scholastic News Kid Reporter, allergy advocate, animals right advocate, public speaker, and actor.

    Robert Trudeau will lead children, age 6 to 10, on a STEAM adventure involving rocket launches, building construction, and imagination. Children will build cardstock-based action figures and industrial environments using measurements, counting, vocabulary and art. The camp will be held Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12 at the Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon each day.
