Children's Book Week: StoryTime the Month of May 2022 + Craft

Join us at the Belcher Library during the month of May (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 3:30pm) to hear a story book by one of the Children's Book Festival's featured authors, Jennifer L. Holm. You will hear either 'The Evil Princess vs. The Brave Knight' or The Evil Princess vs. The Brave Knight Take Turns'. You will also make a crown to wear home.

Teen Tuesday: Tile Art

Teens are invited to make tile art by decorating ceramic tiles with us !

African American Genealogy Workshop, Part 2

Part 2 surveys Freedmen’s Bank records, military records and special sources for African American family history. The case history of Presley Robinson, a veteran of the United States Colored Troops who lived in Shreveport after the Civil War illustrates the wealth of information that may be available for your ancestors. Contact the Genealogy Department for more information.

Grounds for Murder Book Club

Join us monthly for the Grounds for Murder Book Club. Each month we will select a murder/mystery themed book. This month they will be reading "Every Last Fear" by Alex Finlay.

Financial Literacy for Teens

Are you getting ready to start your first summer job? Prepping to go away to college and trying to avoid the broke college student lifestyle? Just want to learn more about the kind of lifeskills that people brag about with #adulting? Representatives from Regions Bank will be here to talk about the financial literacy skills you need! Examples of topics we will cover include budgeting, saving, and generally building your financial know-how.

Pajama Time Storytime: Oceans of Possibilities!

Let’s get ready for Summer! There are Oceans of Possibilities for exciting activities at the library this summer! This week we will explore some of these possibilities with stories, crafts, and other activities. We will end with a Pirate Scavenger Hunt! Pajama time is an evening program for families with children of all ages. Children are invited to come in their pajamas and bring stuff animals. We provide resources to satisfy their curiosity, explore topics of personal interest and encourage children to continue to learn throughout their lives.
