Support Your Library

Join Friends of the Shreve Memorial Library

One of the best ways to help support your library is to become a Friend of the Shreve Memorial Library. Visit the Friends website to learn more and to get a copy of the printable membership form.

The Friends of SML sponsor an annual book sale in April in the basement of the Main Branch at 424 Texas Street plus occasional special book sales at other times during the year. To prepare for these book sales, Friends and volunteers participate in work mornings on the 2nd Saturdays throughout the year.

We usually post notice of upcoming book sales about a month in advance on the library's home page. If you want to know even further in advanced, type "book sale" into the Search the Library box above.

Donations

Materials for the book sales come largely from patron donations. If you would like to donate materials for the book sales, drop them off at your local branch.

Shreve Memorial Library Foundation

Monetary donations can be made to the Shreve Memorial Library Foundation.

The Shreve Memorial Library Foundation, Inc. is an independent 501c3 organization established to support the efforts of Shreve Memorial Library. The Foundation is dedicated to securing and managing funds, beyond those provided from public sources, to assist the Shreve Memorial Library System with emphasis on early literacy and lifelong learning. The Foundation's goal is to provide resources for programs and services to further enrich and enhance the library system, beyond those provided by public funds. The Foundation is run by an all-volunteer board of directors who each share a love for the library and passion for education.

Volunteer

Visit the Friends of the Shreve Memorial Library site to learn more about volunteering for the Friends book sale and work days.

To volunteer at your local branch, speak with the staff and request a copy of the volunteer form. Volunteers will have to complete a background check and drug screening before volunteering at the branch.
